OK, so full disclosure - M.A.D. are my initials. But that's not the lone reason for the name. I also like to explore fringe topics in geography, some of which seem like they were devised in the labs of mad scientists (or geographers). However, I also include topics I'm passionate about - local government, West Virginia, and GIS technologies and trends.
So "mad" can be left to interpretation!
For the near future, the site will be home to my blog about a wide range of topics. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
While this site grows, I aim to include a variety of media - stick around for more!
I am a born-and-raised West Virginian, and first generation college graduate. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia University in 2011, dual-majoring in History and Geography. I fell in love with Geography so much that I went back and completed my Master of Arts degree in that subject from West Virginia University in 2016. Professionally, I have worked in state agencies and for municipal governments building up their geospatial operations from scratch in Oak Hill from 2015-2019 and Morgantown since 2019.
I have never been conventional and have been fascinated by people and technologies which possess that attribute. If you have discovered new adaptations of geospatial technologies to uses, or you love living on the "fringe," I'd love to hear your story!
